RIDE ALONG PROGRAM

GUIDELINES

 

  • Participants must be 16 years old to participate in the Ride Along Program.
  • Citizens may be allowed to participate in the Ride Along Program a maximum of four (4) times per year. Citizens shall be encouraged to participate every three months when applicable.
  • All requests shall be approved through the Battalion Chief that is on duty for the designated ride along date.
  • If the ride along is to be conducted at a fire station, the on duty Battalion Chief shall coordinate this activity with the station on-duty company officer.
  • All requests must be submitted a minimum of 7 days prior to the ride along, unless approved by the Fire Chief.
  • When responding to emergent or non-emergent alarms, the ride along participant shall be located in a safe location at the scene of the incident as determined by the company officer in charge.
  • Ride along participants shall observe safety precautions including the wearing of seat belt at all time when in a moving apparatus or fire district vehicle.
  • Ride along participants represent the Arvada Fire District and shall wear clothing that is both dignified and presents a professional appearance. The recommended clothing includes clean full-length pants, shirt with a collar and full coverage footwear. No attire such as tank tops, shorts or clothing that has pictures, logos or language that may be deemed as offensive or inappropriate shall be worn. The Battalion Chief may refuse any participant if their demeanor or appearance does not project a positive reflection of the Arvada Fire Protection District.
  • Only one ride along participant per station shall be allowed unless approved by the Fire Chief.
    All participants shall be required to read, understand and sign a Notice of Dangerous Activity Covenant not to Sue and Release and a Patient Confidentiality Contract prior to approval to participate in this program. If the participant is younger than 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian shall also sign the release of liability.
