Arvada Fire Department
District Board
In 1949, local citizens went to the polls and approved the formation of the Arvada Fire Protection District. The formation transferred control and financing of the department from the Arvada City Council to a board of directors consisting of five elected officials. Board members are elected by citizens of the district and serve staggered four-year terms. The most challenging and significant venture the current Board of Directors undertook was augmenting the district's volunteer fire department with paid fire suppression personnel. With the support of taxpayers, the Board of Directors ensured that all eight of the district's fire stations are staffed with career firefighters at all times. The Board of Directors meets at the Arvada Fire District Headquarters (7903 Allison Way) on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend their meetings.
The meetings are broadcast on KATV (cable channel 8) beginning the following Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. They will then be re-broadcast on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. through the month. Requests for DVD copies of the meetings may be obtained by email or phone at 303-424-3012.
Meet the current district board members.
